Common Concealed Carry Positions: How to Choose the Right CCW Carry Method

Concealed carry, or CCW (Carrying a Concealed Weapon), is all about legally carrying a firearm in a concealed manner for personal protection. It's crucial to understand the specific laws and regulations in your area, as they may vary. Carrying concealed allows you to have peace of mind knowing that you have the means to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Carry Positions & Their Pros And Cons

APPENDIX CARRY

Pros

Appendix carry, where you carry the firearm in front of your body around the waistline, offers quick access and a natural draw motion. It provides excellent concealment and is known for its fast presentation and ease of weapon retention.

Cons

Safety and muzzle control are crucial with appendix carry since the firearm is pointed toward the centerline of your body. Some individuals may find it less comfortable due to the pressure it can put on the abdominal area.

REAR CARRY (E.G. SMALL OF BACK)

Pros

Rear carry positions, like carrying at the small of your back, can offer good concealment and accessibility. It might be a preferable option for those who don't want to carry it in front of their body.

Cons

Drawing from the rear can be more challenging, especially in dynamic or close-quarter situations. There's also a potential risk of injury if you fall or land on the firearm due to its position at the back.

UNDERARM CARRY (SHOULDER HOLSTER)

Pros

Underarm carry with a shoulder holster offers excellent concealment and comfort, especially for those who spend a lot of time seated or wearing outerwear. It provides easy access and distributes the firearm's weight more evenly.

Cons

Proper positioning is crucial to avoid sweeping the muzzle across vital areas during the draw. It might be less suitable for individuals with limited upper body mobility or those who find shoulder holsters less comfortable.
